Hēmi Tapu – Māori Anglican Church

Taking up the post of priest-in-charge in February 2026, Rev’d David has been committed from the start of his tenure to ensuring Hēmi Tapu is an inclusive and affirming community. This has included active preaching on inclusion, comms clearly stating that all are welcome (ahakoa te aha) and backed up with commitments from the front, considerations about gender neutral bathrooms, installing safety signage, being listed on our Google profile as LGBTQ+ friendly, and Rev’d David being a strong proponent of inclusion more widely – including presenting at the Bishop Muru Lecture series (alongside Geremy Hema and others), and a significant supporter of motions on the topic as a leader in the Anglican Church.
